My memories of Roy Castle was his smile. He was a great entertainer and I was 27 years old when he died and I was devastated that such a lovely, kind person had gone too early. X

All who suffer from cancer

Roy was someone who made such an impression on me as a child. He wanted people to do their best, to be their best - for themselves. It wasn't about winning as such, it was about getting better at something, trying something new, having fun. I think of Roy Castle and I think of someone who embraced life, who was full of joy, someone who loved people. His name lives on, and may it continue to live on for many years to come. Thank you, Roy Castle OBE.

A man who played a big part when I was growing up. His professionalism, his selflessness and humility was and is a lesson to us all. I lost my non smoking wife at 60, less than a year ago. We have raised nearly £5000 overall in Jude Feltham's name for RCLCF. We love this charity and all it is striving to do, least of all keeping Roy's name on everybody's lips. Bless my wife and Roy for all they have done to battle Lung Cancer.

I saw Roy Castle in Singing In The Rain at The London Palladium in December 1983, with Tommy Steele. Roy show cased all his talents of acting, singing, dancing and, playing musical instruments. A truly legendary entertainer.

I grew up watching Roy Castle on TV....always smiling, full of energy & dedication! Selflessly giving the final days of his life to raising funds & the profile of vital lung cancer screening. Last year I took part in Strictly Ballroom to raise funds for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life & I am taking part again this year. I work in cancer treatment & my mum had treatment for lung cancer in 2007 & I wanted to give something back. Thanks Roy ❤️

My own father had succumbed to lung cancer aged just 39, so I was well aware of the dangers of smoking. Although I was aware of Roy's epic last journey, I continued to smoke, knowing what my father went through in 1950 and Roy went through in 1994. The difference was, that my father and I smoked. In early 2000, I was diagnosed with inoperable lung. I had stopped smoking about 15 months earlier. I was lucky and survived. Roy's involvement has saved so many lives in the past 30 years.

Growing up in the 80s, Roy Castle often appeared on the telly, beaming his joy into our living room, entertaining us and inspiring me to apply dedication to my dancing. When his wife Fiona came to judge a competition at my Performing Arts College in 1996, I was thrilled to bits! I didn’t get to tell her how much I loved Roy, but it was a great honour to dance for her. I loved taking part in this year’s Time to Tap, and was super chuffed to receive my medal (as you can probably tell LOL!). Xxx

It's 29 years since we lost this beautiful lady to lung cancer. Sadly the Tour of Hope was never going to save my mum, but in Roy's own words "this Tour is for the next generation" and he was right. 30 years on thanks to Roy's selflessness, Ray Donnelly's vision and the work of the charity, we have lung cancer screening and treatment options. Hope indeed! Roy reminds me of my mum; selfless and strong, I wish they were both here to see how far we've come. Love you mum, and love this charity xx

My mum, like Roy didn't smoke but unfortunately did get stage 1 lung cancer, through the great team at clatterbridge we had mum for 3 years before we lost her our mum was a record breaker

Roy Castle is still a huge inspiration to everyone at Guinness World Records who remember getting inspired by his infectious enthusiasm on Record Breakers, from 1972 to 1993. As he once sang, dedication's what you need if you want to be a record breaker!

He came to Lincoln to do a record breakers with us as we had got into the book. I took my tap shoes in with me to the filming and he’s did a few moves with me. And it was magical.

At the start of the Tour of Hope I was already an established fundraiser for the charity. A friend of mine had the banner made for me, you can see me standing behind Mr Donnelly holding one end of it. I took it everywhere even to the top of Snowdon. I still have it in my shed. At that time I was in regular contact with Roy and his wife Fiona. He would send me signed pictures to give out to fundraisers who came on my marathon walks, shows, climbs, art exhibitions.

I never met or knew Roy Castle personally, but as a child I watched Record Breakers and his own words 'Dedication's what you need'. This had a profound affect on me all the years since and that was over 30 years ago now! I was always mindful over the years not to passive smoke, this I put down to the warnings from Roy Castle on TV. He was a great man and I still have the DVDs of him in the Carry On Films. May he rest in peace.
